Jets bounce back
Thursday 9th of April, 2009

Round 5 was held on the lush fields of Founders Park in Ladera Ranch as OC hosted the round. After a great game between the Swans and the Sharks, the Jets lined up to take on the Raiders in another battle for the Jon Egan Cup. The Raiders had shown the previous week that they are a good side by running the Swans to the wire in round 4, and the Jets were ready for a good contest. Unfortunately a few Raiders players were unavailable this week, and the undermanned Riverside team came up against a well stocked Jets side that was hungry to atone for last week's narrow loss to the Sharks. The result was the Jets by 110 points.

The Jets continued to perform well as a team, showing good consistancy across all positions. Some standout performances came from Seb Aguiari who was unstoppable off half back, born again defender Mike Hertstein who continued to revel in his new role, and vice captain Kelly Nelson in another best on ground performance.

The Jets also welcomed back ruckman Sean Nievaart from injury who was eased back into it with a job at full forward. Nievs didn't miss a beat, kicking 5 goals from limited opportunities.

The Jets next take on big improvers the LA Swans in round 6 in San Pedro, see the main page for details.
